About Two Row Global Trade Alliance: A Business Rooted in Sovereignty
Two Row Global Trade Alliance, a subsidiary of White Pine, is not a conventional corporation. Our business model is a direct extension of Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) law, sovereignty, and our historical treaties with other nations. We operate under a unique framework that honors principles of peace, respect, and non-interference, which have governed our people for centuries.
Our commerce is guided by three foundational pillars:
1. The Two Row Wampum (Guswenta): The Foundation of Coexistence
The Two Row Wampum is more than a historical treaty; it is the living philosophy that defines our business relationships. Symbolized by two parallel rows on a wampum belt, it represents our mutual agreement to journey down the river of life together, each in our own vessel—one for the Haudenosaunee, one for our partners. The two rows never cross, signifying a commitment to non-interference and mutual respect for each other's laws, customs, and way of life.
From a business perspective, this means:
Sovereign Operation: We are not subject to the domestic laws or regulations of the United States or Canada. Our business governance is rooted in our own jurisdiction.
Mutual Respect: We engage with our partners as equals, fostering transparent and respectful relationships that honor the unique identity and laws of each party.
2. The George Washington Belt: A Nation-to-Nation Agreement
This wampum belt commemorates the 1794 Treaty of Canandaigua, a nation-to-nation agreement between the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the newly formed United States. It symbolizes a pact of perpetual peace and friendship, affirming our inherent land rights and sovereignty.
For our business, the George Washington Belt signifies:
Treaty-Based Relations: Our interactions with the U.S. and Canada are based on the legal standing of these historical treaties, not on their domestic legislative or corporate frameworks.
Government-to-Government Engagement: We conduct our affairs with the U.S. and Canada on a government-to-government basis, upholding our sovereign right to self-determination in all economic activities.
3. The Jay Treaty: Securing Cross-Border Commerce
Article 3 of the 1794 Jay Treaty, signed between the U.S. and Great Britain, explicitly grants Indigenous peoples the right to "pass and repass freely" across the U.S.-Canada border without paying duties on their goods. This provision is a cornerstone of our commercial operations.
This allows Two Row Global Trade Alliance to:
Facilitate Duty-Free Trade: We leverage this treaty right to conduct efficient, duty-free cross-border commerce, providing a significant competitive advantage in the North American marketplace.
Ensure Economic Mobility: This legal right ensures the unhindered movement of our people and products, promoting economic development and self-sufficiency for our nation.
Our Position: Independent and Sovereign Commerce
Two Row Global Trade Alliance exists to demonstrate that Indigenous nations can successfully engage in global commerce by using their own legal and philosophical frameworks. We are not a U.S. or Canadian company; we are a sovereign business entity whose relationship with these countries is defined by historical treaties. We use our wampum belts not as relics of the past, but as living legal documents that guide our path forward in modern business, ensuring our prosperity while honoring our heritage and sovereignty.
