KAWENNIIOSTA JOCK

My Story

Kawenniiosta is a strong  (Haudenosaunee) women from the Iroquois Confederacy, from the Mohawk Nation community of Akwesasne, New York. As a proud member of the Wolf Clan—the traditional Pathfinders and Firekeepers of the nation—she carries the legacy of her people with her, embodying their strength and resilience.
Her activism is a direct extension of this heritage. Standing on the front lines of Indigenous sovereignty, Kawenniiosta is a tireless advocate in the Land Back movement, working to restore not only the land but also the sacred relationship between Indigenous peoples and their motherland. She is a fierce and unwavering voice against public cruelties and injustice.
Kawenniiosta's commitment to justice is deeply rooted in her work with the land. She is at the forefront of the Skywoman’s Forever Farm, an initiative focused on rematriating ancestral lands and re-establishing traditional Indigenous agriculture. Through this work, she is actively reviving the original ways of environmental stewardship and honoring the stories of her people, such as the creation story of Skywoman.
In her efforts to restore health to the land and her community, she is also a leading voice in the Native Health Matters movement. Her work in this area focuses on using traditional ecological knowledge and innovative, sustainable practices like biochar and compost tea to regenerate the soil, ensuring that the food grown is clean, healthy, and culturally appropriate.
Guided by the values of family, loyalty, and cooperation, Kawenniiosta embodies the spirit of a new generation of Haudenosaunee leaders—one who honors the past while forging a path toward a more just and equitable future for all Indigenous nations.
